Managing Volunteers for Dance Events

There are many websites now that help with scheduling - snacks for the Little League team, meal delivery for a family with a new baby, and many other kinds of volunteer sign ups. Today I want to highlight the website Volunteer Spot. Consider using it for your next dance festival or site specific project (or anything with lots of helping hands and logistics).

For 7 years, I co-directed the Dance IS Festival. We had nearly 100 performers each year. We needed volunteers for the selection panel, for the showing of works in progress, and at the event backstage, ushering, cleaning up, and more. A website like Volunteer Spot really could have streamlined and managed this somewhat unruly process.

I think the best feature of all are the "reminder emails" to the volunteers.
