When I finished college in 1997, we were just beginning to talk about how "technology" was going to change modern dance. I thought this was an incredibly silly idea. Who would have guessed back then about Facebook, Youtube, iPads, and even tiny devices to hold hundreds of songs for dance classes? Dance has forever changed due to technology - the way we find music, broadcast ourselves, document our work, advertise performances, and much much more.
This blog is to be a worldwide conversation for dancers, choreographers, teaching artists, and arts administrators. Please join in!
Here is how it will work:
1. The blog is meant to be a conversation, a resource, and a hub of ideas. It is not just about me. The blog will only be successful if you join in. Please bookmark the blog and subscribe to the RSS feed.
2. On the FIRST OF EACH MONTH, I will post 3 tech-related topics for that particular month. Dancers will have one week to write in with responses, and then I will post them over the remaining weeks of that month.
3. An example of what you might write and the length of it would be:
I use Shazam on my iPhone to capture and identify music on the radio, whether it is rock music or instrumental music on NPR. It is very helpful with finding music to use in my teen modern dance classes. (Jill Randall, dance teaching artist in Berkeley, CA)
