This 30 minute film festival was created by The Hamlin School in San Francisco. The mini film festival highlights the work of middle school dancers at Hamlin as well as selected films from other middle schools and high schools around the globe. Six other schools are represented, including:

While Youtube and Jacob's Pillow Interactive offer us video clips in an instant, sometimes we are seeking full-length videos of particular productions or of a documentary.
Browsing Netflix this weekend, I was impressed with the number of offerings on the site at this current time. Almost all must be ordered, but will quickly arrive at your home this week. I searched for about 20 different artists and productions - ranging from Martha Graham to Trisha Brown - and found a solid section. There are even several "dance for the camera" compilations.
Next time you are doing your own research, or prepping for the dance history course you teach at a college, consider the offerings on Netflix!

It began before the Occupy Movement took root, and has been tended to and brought to life in the context of what journalist Chris Hedges calls “the disease of empire.” Sixth Street. Old Falls Street. San Francisco and Niagara Falls, New York. Two communities at opposite ends of the country that hold dreams, memories, sorrows and a desire for something more. We have created this site specific event because we want to ask who will rescue our cities. Brian Seibert’s article “Tiptoeing Around the Music Video” is definitely worth ten minutes of your time, to read and to consider. Seibert highlights the work of choreographer Susan Marshall and her online work/trailer “Stop.” The article brings to the surface many questions about art on the internet, accessibility, audiences, virtual audiences versus guests at live events, and “Youtube as a platform.”
